Haida Gwaii Photography Retreat

September 9–15, 2026

Haida Gwaii Glamping — Tlell, British Columbia

An Invitation to Deepen Your Way of Seeing

There are landscapes that invite us to photograph them and others that quietly change how we see.

Haida Gwaii is such a place.

Shaped by coastal weather, old-growth forest, and the steady presence of the Pacific, these islands ask us to slow down, pay closer attention, and work with greater intention. Photography here becomes less about chasing images and more about recognizing what is already asking for our notice.

This seven-day, six-night retreat is designed for photographers who feel ready to step away from urgency and into a more intentional relationship with their craft. If, while reading this page, you find yourself thinking “this feels like it was made for me,” you may already be sensing the kind of experience this week is designed to hold.

A Thoughtful photograpic experience

This is not a photography tour, and there is no pressure to produce, compete, or perform.

Instead, the retreat is structured to support meaningful creative growth through a balance of guided field sessions and spacious time for rest, reflection, and integration.

Each day includes optional sunrise and sunset photography, allowing you to work with changing light while honouring your own rhythm and energy.

Throughout the week, we will explore approaches including:

  • Coastal and landscape photography
  • Forest observation and macro work
  • Intentional camera movement
  • Working with weather and atmospheric conditions
  • Reflective editing practices
  • Developing a cohesive body of images

The emphasis is not on perfection, but on evolution and supporting you as your way of seeing continues to mature and deepen.

Our Home on the Island

We will be based at Haida Gwaii Glamping in Tlell, staying in beautifully appointed oceanfront tents where the sound of the tide and shifting coastal light become part of the creative atmosphere.

Mornings begin with a continental breakfast on site before heading into the field.

Evenings often close around the fire a natural space to share images, stories, and reflections from the day.

The setting is both grounding and quietly expansive, offering an ideal environment for creative attention to deepen.
