How our day unfolds...

Sample Workshop Agenda (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

10:00 – 10:30

Framing the Day: Cameras as Responsive Tools ~ An introduction to the Field Notes approach, reframing the camera as something you work with, not something to master.

10:30 – 11:15

Light First: How Cameras Read the World ~ Observing available light and learning to anticipate how the camera will respond before adjusting settings.

11:15 – 12:00

Exposure as Decision-Making ~ Understanding aperture, shutter speed, and ISO as creative trade-offs rather than technical hurdles.

12:00 – 12:30

Lunch Break ~ A pause to notice how light changes over time.

12:30 – 1:15

Working With Constraints ~ Using manual and semi-automatic modes thoughtfully to reduce overwhelm and increase clarity.

1:15 – 2:15

Applied Practice: Seeing Cause and Effect ~ Hands-on practice focused on making one intentional change at a time and observing the result.

2:15 – 2:45

Reflection: Confidence, Control, and Restraint ~ A guided conversation about when to adjust, when to trust, and when to stop.

2:45 – 3:00

Closing: Continuing the Practice ~ Bringing the day together and discussing how to carry this understanding forward.

Throughout the day, technical skills are taught in service of attention — supporting a slower, more intentional photographic practice.
